Plus, homemade Ceasar dressing that is made with no anchovy paste, but it does contain Worcestershire. Worcestershire sauce is made with anchovies.
Ingredients for Breadcrumb Caesar Salad
Breadcrumbs
- French Bread
- Butter
- Garlic Salt
- Basil
- Parsley
What is Caesar dressing made of?
- Garlic
- Mayonnaise
- Parmesan Cheese
- Lemon Juice
- Worcestershire Sauce
- Water
- Black Pepper
- Salt
And of course, romaine lettuce.
How to Make Breadcrumb Caesar Salad
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
- Add cubed French bread to the baking sheet. Melt the butter in a small bowl and stir in garlic salt, basil, and parsley.
- Pour the seasoned butter over the bread cubes. Stir to coat.
- Add to the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, stirring halfway. Bake until toasted and crunchy.
- They should be hard and not have any softness.
- Try pressing a cube with the back of a spoon. If it still allows you to smash it, it needs to bake longer.
- Add bread cubes to a food processor or blender and blend until fine breadcrumbs, set aside. Clean food processor or blender for dressing.
How to Make Caesar Dressing
- Add all ingredients for Caesar dressing to a food processor or blender and blend until creamy and smooth. There should be no lumps.
- Prepare the salad by placing romaine lettuce into a bowl, add enough breadcrumbs and Caesar dressing to your liking and stir to coat the lettuce.
- Grate fresh Parmesan cheese on top.
What if you already have croutons on hand?
Homemade croutons are the best, but if you have store-bought croutons they can also be blended really fine into breadcrumbs for this recipe.
