This air fryer frozen French toast sticks recipe takes already frozen French toast sticks from the grocery freezer aisle and shows you what temperature to set your air fryer and how long to cook them for.

Air Fryer Frozen French Toast Sticks

Frozen french toast sticks in the air fryer are a quick breakfast the whole family will enjoy.

I like popping them in the air fryer to get crispy edges. The microwave makes them so soggy!

This is not a homemade french toast recipe, rather, it’s taking store-bought frozen french toast sticks and giving you the time and temperature needed to cook them, plus I have a few extra tidbits and tips below!

    Is French Toast From France?

Not originally. Although it is served in France and called “pain perdu”, which translates to “lost bread” in English. It’s also considered a dessert in France rather than a sweet breakfast item like in the US.

The earliest mention of French toast is known to be from Apicius, a book of recipes dating back to the Roman Empire when it was called “aliter dulcia”, meaning “another sweet dish.”

It was created using white bread sliced fine with the crust removed, then broken into large pieces, and dipped in milk and beaten egg. It’s then fried in oil and drizzled with honey to make it sweet.

So believe it or not, French toast originates from Rome!

Most American versions have cinnamon, nutmeg, and/or vanilla extract mixed into the milk and egg mixture then served with syrup.

Many restaurants have even included whipped cream, fruit, and fruit syrups to top it off.

Ingredients for Air Fryer French Toast Sticks

    • Farm Rich Frozen French Toast Sticks or Similar Brand
    • Cooking Oil Spray

How to Air Fry French Toast Sticks

    • Spray the air fryer basket with cooking oil spray and place frozen french toast sticks in a single layer.
    • If you’re looking to avoid oil, place a layer of parchment paper in the bottom of the air fryer basket.

    • Close the basket or lid and set the temperature to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Set the cooking time for 3 minutes, flip, and then cook an additional 3 minutes until they are golden brown and have a slight crisp to the edges.
    • Use tongs to remove them from the basket and serve with your favorite toppings.

What to Serve with French Toast

I like to sprinkle powdered sugar and drizzle maple syrup on top when it comes to French toast.

Step it up by adding fresh-cut strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries, or make it more of a dessert by adding whipped cream and chopped nuts or coating the sticks in cinnamon sugar after they cook.
