Yellow Cupcake Ingredients
- Butter
- Granulated Sugar
- Large Eggs
- Pure Vanilla Extract
- All-Purpose Flour
- Baking Powder
- Salt
- Milk
- Sour Cream
Chocolate Buttercream Frosting Ingredients
- Butter
- Shortening
- Pure Vanilla Extract
- Confectioners’ Sugar
- Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- Evaporated Milk
How to Make Yellow Cupcakes from Scratch
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line cupcake pans with 24 cupcake liners.
- In a large mixing bowl or a stand mixer with a paddle attachment, cream together softened butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla, mix well.
- Sift flour, baking powder, and salt and mix into the bowl. Blend in milk and sour cream.
- Fill cupcake liners ⅔ full, about 3 tablespoons each.
- Bake in the oven for 15-18 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cupcakes comes out clean.
How to Make Chocolate Buttercream Frosting
- In a large mixing bowl, or a stand mixer with a whisk attachment, add softened butter, shortening, vanilla, and cocoa powder. Mix well. Slowly alternate adding in confectioners’ sugar and evaporated milk, blending well after each addition.
- Frost cupcakes once they have fully cooled.
